Both Matthew and Nancy are directly involved with every step in the
creation and execution of their artwork

Step 1
Create the Design
First we create our unique designs
in a rough drawing. Next we move
to a more finished design
through the use of pen and
ink, colored pencils,
charcoal, paints, and handmade textures.
We intigrate our knowledge of
the capabilitites and limitations
of our craft into the creation
of each design.

Step 2
Artworkprep&
colorseparations
After the creation of the design we
prepare the artwork for handprinting.
To do this, we assign each element
of the design a color. For each color
we create a film politive to enable
transferring the image to mesh. The positive
are made by handcutting, painting, or
drawing each
color separation. After
burning each color
separation
onto mesh
we are ready to handprint each color to fabric.

Step 3
Handprinting
With our designs transferred to mesh, we then set up each color for limited printing. Handprinting each color takes an acquired skill and knowledge. By creating all our colors, textures, and using split fountains we are able to stretch our craft of handprinting to our own very unique look. After handprinting each color, we dry each garment to insure colorfastness and durability.
